Walk into any apparel warehouse and you will see two kinds of zipper bags: soft, matte frosted bags and glossy clear bags. Both are resealable, both can be printed with your logo, and both cost roughly the same per piece. The right choice depends on where the bag is seen, how the product is sold and what your brand wants to say.

What “Frosted” and “Clear” Actually Mean
- Frosted zipper bags are usually made from CPE (cast polyethylene) or EVA film with a matte, slightly translucent surface. Light scatters through the film, so the garment inside shows as a soft silhouette rather than in full detail.
- Clear zipper bags are typically LDPE or PE film with a smooth, high-clarity finish. The product is fully visible through the bag.
Both use the same zipper options: press-to-close, slider, double-track and child-resistant. Both can be flat, gusseted or stand-up.
Look and Feel
Frosted bags read as premium. The matte surface hides fingerprints and light scratches, the film feels soft in the hand, and the “reveal” when a customer opens the bag adds to the unboxing experience. This is why frosted bags are the default for direct-to-consumer fashion brands, lingerie, swimwear and gift sets.
Clear bags are practical and product-forward. Buyers see colour, fabric and size at a glance, which matters for wholesale, retail racks and multi-pack basics such as socks and t-shirts. If the garment itself is the selling point, a clear bag lets it do the talking.
Protection and Thickness
Both styles keep out dust, moisture and handling marks during storage and shipping. We produce zipper bags from 0.01 mm up to 0.2 mm film. Most apparel brands choose:
- 0.05–0.06 mm for t-shirts, underwear and lightweight knits
- 0.08–0.10 mm for hoodies, denim and heavier items that need a stiffer, more substantial bag
CPE frosted film is softer and more flexible than standard LDPE at the same thickness, which gives frosted bags their premium hand feel. Clear LDPE is a little stiffer and holds its shape well on a retail hook.
Printing
Frosted film is a forgiving print surface. A single-colour logo looks elegant, and white or black ink on frosted film is a classic look that photographs well. Clear film shows every detail of a multi-colour print, but the garment behind the print also shows through, so keep artwork simple or print on a solid colour block.

Cost and MOQ
Per-piece cost is similar for the two styles at the same size and thickness. CPE frosted bags run slightly higher because of the material. Typical MOQ is 5,000 pcs per design for either style, and switching between frosted and clear for different product lines is easy because there is no expensive tooling.
Eco-Friendly Options
Both styles are available with recycled PCR content and in compostable PLA/PBAT film. Compostable frosted bags have a natural matte look; compostable clear bags are slightly hazier than standard PE. Can a frosted bag have a clear window?
Yes. A clear strip or window on a frosted bag is a common design that shows colour and fabric while keeping the premium matte look.
Is CPE frosted film stronger than clear LDPE?
CPE is softer and more flexible, which gives a better hand feel. For strength, thickness matters more than the film type: choose 0.08 mm or more for heavy garments in either style.
